Yet another thought about me disliking people who call themselves geeks and act all cool. I hate labels and conformity. Well, they do tend to go together, don't they? The geeky people that I don't mind, are always the ones that are just being themselves. They're the ones that don't ask me to define geek, because it doesn't matter to them. They're the ones who have never brought up the subject of whether or not I like geeks, because they're not trying to impress anyone by defining themselves within a label.
The ones who piss me off are the ones who are trying to prove something. They are intentionally labelling themselves and conforming to that label in order to be "popular." How incredibly high school. It doesn't take a genius to realize that if you're conforming to a minority of the population, you're still conforming.
It's not just geeks, I tend to dislike everyone who labels themselves. People aren't meant to fit into labels or categories, we're supposed to all be individuals. I always get irked when I see a group of people all acting and dressing the same, no matter what "category" they're trying to fit into. Emos, punks, jocks, geeks, it's all the same. People thinking that they have to have the stigmata of a label on themselves so that they can identify with other people who share that label.
DOWN WITH LABELS, UP WITH INDIVIDUALITY.

You must hate me...though I like to more play devil's advocate than really care what you think of 'geeks'.

I always suspected the devil's advocate motive.
